Quick guide

How to scan a document with your phone

You don't need a scanner. With good light and a dark background, a phone photo becomes a clean PDF that employers and government offices accept.

  1. Photograph the documentPlace it on a dark surface in good light and shoot from above with the whole sheet in frame. You can take several photos in a row.
  2. Check the pagesCorners are found automatically. If a page is cropped badly, tap it and drag the corners to the edges; you can also rotate it or change the filter there.
  3. Create the PDFChoose one photo per A4 page or ID card front and back on one page, then download the PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Answers before you start

Which filter should I choose?

Black and white for text-only documents: clearest and smallest. Colour for ID, certificates and documents with coloured stamps. Greyscale when black and white loses detail.

Why weren't the corners detected correctly?

Detection looks for a light sheet on a darker background. On a white table or with strong shadows it can miss; adjust the corners by hand or retake the photo on a dark background.

Are the photos sent to a server?

No. All processing happens in your phone's browser.

Does it work on a computer?

Yes, with photos you've already taken. The camera button opens the camera on phones and tablets.
