The steps, in short

  1. Photograph the documentsPlace the document on a dark surface in a well-lit room and photograph it from above, as straight as possible.
  2. Add the photosTap the upload area and choose the photos from your gallery.
  3. Check order and orientationPut the photos in page order and rotate any that are the wrong way round.
  4. Create and download the PDFTap Convert images to PDF, then Download.

Getting a clear document

Hold the phone parallel to the page and avoid shadows and reflections. Check every page before downloading: the text must be readable and all corners of the document visible.

If a PDF was requested, don't send the original photos. With several documents, keep the requested order and check the file name before uploading.

Straight pages instead of crooked photos

For documents, Scan to PDF is often better: corners are detected, the page is straightened and cleaned up, and a black and white filter makes text easy to read and the file small.

If the file is too large

Photos from newer phones are often 3 to 5 MB each, so ten pages easily go over 30 MB. Shrink the PDF with Compress PDF and check it's still readable.
