What you need to know

What the EU Settlement Scheme accepts

According to GOV.UK's guidance on evidence of UK residence (checked October 2026): you can upload up to 10 documents, and each must be 6 MB or less. Photos and scans are accepted. Rules can change, so check the guidance before you apply.

Preparing your evidence

  • Several months of payslips or bank statements fit better as one PDF: combine them with Merge PDF.
  • Photograph paper letters with Scan to PDF so they're straight and readable.
  • Compress each file here and check that dates and names are still legible.

Frequently asked questions

Answers before you start

Why a 5 MB target if the limit is 6 MB?

It leaves a margin, and 5 MB is one of the tool's preset targets. Most documents are far smaller after compression anyway.

Is my evidence uploaded to PDF Simplu?

No. The compression happens in your browser.
